Course Description

Software engineering is entering a new phase in which AI coding assistants like Claude Code are becoming part of everyday development workflows. Today, engineering teams face constant pressure to deliver software faster while maintaining quality, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability. Teams are expected to reduce technical debt, improve testing practices, modernize legacy systems, and respond quickly to changing business needs.

At the same time, the way developers work is changing. Rather than using AI only for code generation, modern teams are beginning to collaborate with AI throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and exploring ideas to implementation, testing, refactoring, code review, and automation.

This 2-day workshop is designed to help engineering teams work effectively in this new AI-assisted development environment. Over two immersive, hands-on days, participants will learn to integrate proven engineering practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), clean coding, refactoring, and sustainable software design, with AI-assisted workflows using Claude Code.

The focus is not on replacing engineers with AI. It is on helping engineers become more effective by using AI responsibly as a collaborative partner. Participants will explore how AI can accelerate development, support better testing practices, simplify refactoring, and help understand and improve existing systems, while maintaining strong engineering discipline and code quality standards.

This module introduces context engineering concepts and explains how reusable project context improves consistency, maintainability, and engineering quality. articipants learn how to structure reusable instructions and engineering standards using CLAUDE.md.

 

This module focuses on improving software design incrementally using refactoring techniques and AI-assisted engineering workflows. Participants learn how clean code and maintainable design emerge through continuous improvement.

 

Participants learn practical strategies for introducing TDD into existing systems and improving legacy code safely using AI-assisted techniques.

Participants apply everything learned during the workshop to implement a complete AI-assisted engineering workflow using TDD and Claude Code.
