In this video, Sumeet Madan, a Partner Consultant in PST & SPC, talked about Project Manager and Project Owner. Sumeet Also talks about What is Product Quadrant and how project manager uses scrum.
A project is like a temporary job with a specific goal. It has a start and end date, and it's meant to create something unique or solve a particular problem. For example, building a bridge or launching a marketing campaign are both projects. On the other hand, a product is something that is made or created to be sold or used. It's usually something tangible, like a smartphone, a car, or even software like a mobile app or a game. Unlike a project, a product doesn't have an end date; it continues to be sold or used over time, and it often evolves with updates and improvements.
A Product Manager is an individual whose role requires blending soft skills and technical skills to manage requirements and deliver quality products that align with business goals. Product managers interface between customer service, product development, UX, engineering, and design. They also don the hats of sales and marketing people but not entirely.
A Product Owner is a key role in Agile software development methodologies, particularly in frameworks like Scrum. The Product Owner is responsible for representing the interests of stakeholders, including customers and users, and ensuring that the development team delivers value with each iteration or release of the product. Their responsibilities typically include defining and prioritizing the product backlog, clarifying requirements, and making decisions about what features or improvements should be included in each iteration based on business value and customer feedback.
Product management is the process of conceiving, defining, delivering, monitoring and refining products in, and withdrawing products from, a market in order to maximize business results. They also include working with product delivery teams to test and prioritize delivery of product capabilities in order to maximize customer value and business impact and derive growth from digital initiatives.
The Product Quadrant is a tool used in Agile product development to classify different types of work based on their impact and certainty. It divides work into four quadrants: known knowns, known unknowns, unknown knowns, and unknown unknowns. This framework helps teams prioritize and plan their work effectively by categorizing tasks according to their level of certainty and the potential impact they may have on the product.
